Heart Necklace

January 2, 2010

To make this craft you will first have to make some homemade play dough. You can use this recipe to make play dough any time.

What you need:

An adult helper
1 cup flour
2 tablespoons cream of tartar
1 cup water
1 package of unsweetened Koolaid
1 tablespoon oil

What you do:

1. With the help of an adult mix all the ingredients in a pot.

2. Cook and stir mixture over medium heat for 3-5 minutes.

3. Your mixture will look like a big globby mess. Don't worry.

4. When the mixture forms a ball in the center of the pot put it on a lightly floured surface and knead.

5. Be careful not to burn your hands. The mixture will be hot from cooking. Ask an adult to check the temperature of the dough and if it is too hot wait for it to cool down and then knead it.

6. Store your play dough in an airtight container or bag.

To make the necklace:

What you need: Red, pink or purple play dough
Rolling pin or empty bottle
Heart shaped cookie cutters
String, ribbon or wool

What you do:

1. Roll out your pink, red or purple play dough and press out hearts using heart shaped cookie cutters.

2. With a pencil poke a hole in the centre of the heart near where the two humps of the heart join.

3. Let your heart(s) dry. 1-2 days.

4. Thread string, ribbon or wool through the hole and tie your necklace on.
